The Death of a Blog

October 13, 2011

In the past few days I have been to Dutch Harbor, been briefed on my assignment, had my flight canceled, and flown back to Anchorage.  That’s where I am now.  If all goes well, I’ll be on my boat tomorrow.
The main topic of this post is the sad new that I have to kill my blog.  In the briefing, several changes to the regulations were brought up.  One nasty one being that there now can be NO blogs, NO pictures, and with a side note that they will be checking.  I even asked if I could post a picture of the white board where they have written in bold letters “No blogs and no pictures.  We will be checking.”  They said no.
I am very sad to do this, since writing for the blog was one of the things I was looking forward to doing most on the boat.  Maybe nothing would happen if I left this up, but I don’t want to risk getting fired yet.
Perhaps instead of writing for the blog I will write letters to people?  Yeah, that could work.  If you’d like a little note from Alaska, feel free to e-mail me your mailing address.  (I promise not to share it.)  I’ll at least send you a post card.  I need a new mission now that this one is dead, so don’t be shy about asking for one!
Thank you for reading my blog.  It’s been a lot of fun.

  2. Hi Megan. I'm sad that they did this. Did they say why? Anyway, please include me on your email list. Thanks!
